Portage Spring Open

Anglers participating in the Portage Lakes Bass Masters Spring Open at Portage Lakes on 4/11 were met with cold temperatures, bluebird skies, and 15-20 MPH winds out of the North.  41 boats launched at 7am in search of a 5 bass limit (and some big fish!).  After the tournament, many prizes were raffled off to all participants.  Most anglers left with a prize, and some collected multiple prizes!  Here are the top finishers:

1st place - Williams/Lecon - 12.95 lbs ($600)

2nd place - Schmeltzer/Gunter - 11.16 lbs ($400)

3rd place (tie) - Fronk/Fronk and Partee/McVay - 9.25 lbs ($312 for each team)

5th place - Hartman/Schillinger - 9.12 lbs ($200)

6th place - Klein/Lowry - 8.94 lbs ($175)

7th place - Miller/Miller - 8.68 lbs ($150)

Big Bass - Williams/Lecon - 5.71 lbs ($400)

We extend many thanks to all who fished this tournament.  Proceeds benefit our free children's fishing derby held at the District 3 ponds on Saturday, May 23rd.
